Advances in Survey and Data Analysis Methods for Rural Social Scientists

Special Issue of the Journal of Rural Social Sciences

The official journal of the Southern Rural Sociological Association

Rural sociologists and other rural social scientists have and continue to be on the cutting edge of advances in methods for collecting and analyzing high quality social science data. While much of this work is embedded within substantive studies, the focus of this issue is on highlighting the lessons learned so that other researchers can incorporate these ideas into the design and conduct of their studies.

Rural social scientists are invited to submit completed manuscripts for the special issue.  Research with a rural focus or application using innovative methods (such as drop-off/pick-up survey, intercepts surveys, mixed-mode surveys, sampling strategies for rare or hard to reach populations, and geo-spatial analysis) are of particular interest.  Manuscripts which address strategies for effective and efficient data collection, methods for reducing survey errors, appropriate methods for analyzing nonprobability samples, and other analytic approaches are also welcome.

Persons wishing to submit a manuscript should send a Word document (preferred) or PDF to Glenn Israel at gdisrael@ufl.edu.
